While managing a Truck Parts store in Tampa, FL, I was able to speak with trucking Independent Owner/Operators and Fleet Supervisors on a daily basis about their maintenance problems. Many times the subject of driver comfort came up.

The first complaint was the seat, and at the time I sold air ride seats. The second largest complaint about comfort was the mattress in the truck bunk. Truckers sometimes must try to sleep while the other “team” driver continues the trip. The old style coil spring mattress would bounce as the truck traveled down the road, making comfortable sleep difficult at best. I did some research and found that Innerspace Mattress manufactured the best Memory Foam Mattress available for the Trucking Industry. I started providing Memory Foam Mattresses through Innerspace to my Trucking customers and the response was tremendous. As there are many different size trucks and bunks, I kept several sizes of Memory Foam Mattresses in stock.

One day, my wife, who had camped with her family when growing up, asked me, would one of the “truck” Mattresses would fit in a camper? Good question, so my wife and I went to the “Worlds Largest RV Dealer” here in Tampa, measured many types of RV’s, from Pop-Up’s to Diesel Pushers and found out that there are several different size mattresses exclusive to the RV Industry. We came up with five common sizes, and with a call to Innerspace, they agreed to produce these five sizes and make them available in two different Memory Foam thicknesses.
